What's Going On In Detroit?
Next slide
Detroit is undergoing the country's largest urban redevelopment boom. More than $20 billion in new development is under way.
Detroit has been remaking itself into a convention and tourism city. It played host to the Superbowl in 2006, where it proved to be a world class city. Many of the buildings downtown are being reclaimed, and a variety of clubs, restaurants, and other entertainment venues have sprung up. Downtown plays host to the new Comerica Park for the Detroit Tigers, Ford Field for the Detroit Lions, and Joe Louis Arena for the Detroit Red Wings. Many national-brand hotels have re-entered the market, including Marriot Hotels which has purchased the historic Book Cadillac Building and is building it out into a mix of high-end condos (some over $1 Million), and hotel space.
